Transformational leadership is helping to organize and affect the climate of the organization, lead to implement the change in the environment within the organization or a group, support in promoting positive environment at the work settings and aid in improving team functioning.  I like the characteristics described by Vertino (2018) that transformational leadership is aimed to inspire, excite, and involve staff to became participants in the shared vision and mission. I like the hierarchy of needs described by Maslow that the basics are to belong and be included in the group/ family or team. I remember when I came to the United States and was looking for a job in the healthcare settings, I applied for care technician and was hoping to have a group of the people that would accept me in their circle so we could achieve goals. But I felt like an outsider at that time and was feeling uncomfortable, unworthy of the qualities that I have or even about myself. As Vertino (2018) described transformational leaders that include others in the circle by developing rapport with the team members, share the same vision and make decisions, and providing constructive feedback, and be in communication about successful results. Communication of transformational leadership is based on positive interchanges in communication styles and to include people that are in the group to make decisions. When comparing to opposite to it is to have punishment and being authoritative leader. I had experienced that in my life too and was afraid to share my thoughts and ideas to get the results we wanted. A transformational leader would give people the power to be motivated in achieving their goals. Passion and commitment are contagious and when the leaders use it, it enhances productivity in the work environment and helps to create healthy relationships in the work settings. Transformational leadership is open to innovative ideas, freely listening to opinions of others and to have the culture of safety, transparency, and empathy.  

I remember when I came to Behavioral Health unit, I met with one of the charge nurses that I admired her qualities be being honest, communicating with other freely and everyone else was able to communicate with her openly without fear of rejection or being ridiculed. I was welcomed by this RN the first time I met her. She was willing to help me to adjust to new settings, to ask questions freely and to not hesitate to take the initiative in my unfamiliar environment. As we worked together, we had the same vision and styles to achieve the results of the tasks that had been assigned. She was inspiring me and other coworkers to achieve their goals and get positive results. She used the power source by being the referent. We had the vision, we communicated freely, and we all strived to achieve our goals without being judged or ridiculed by others. At the end of the day, I felt satisfied after my work was done, especially when we achieved our goals and I strived to come back to work the next day or the next time I was scheduled to work. I like that there is a transformational leader in my life and that it had an impact on me. As being good leader, she builds trustful relationships with others. A good leader knows the skills and being motivated with their team members to achieve results and to promote healthier work environments that promote patient safety and improve quality of care (Moura et al., 2019).
